About The Mission to Empower Rural Women: Sewing Machines for Poor Women (SM4PW)
The Sewing Machines for Poor Women (SM4PW) campaign, initiated by Dr. Sree Padma, Ph.D., and affiliated with Asha-Jyothi, aims to make rural women financially independent. Since 2018, the Mother Theresa Charitable Trust, led by Mrs. Koya Sudha, has trained 2,256 women in 28 villages for free.
In collaboration with Asha Jyoti, the Trust helped 40 trained women in Badava, Mylavaram Mandalam, buy sewing machines. These women inspire others in Chandrala and Kirtirayanagudem (KT Gudem) to start their own businesses. We have created a fundraiser to support these women. Every dollar you donate will be matched by the women themselves.
The breakdown for the fundraiser is as follows.
Cost of a sewing machine: $108; We meet 50% of the cost= $54
Fitting and transport: $5
Funds required for Chandrala: (62x$54) + (62x$5) = $3336 + $325 = $3661
Funds required for KT Gudem: (78x$54) + (78x$5) = $4197 + $410 = $4607
Total Fundraising amount is $8268
